"P" Day!

Yay for preschool! Skyler is learning about the letter P this week and her teacher is so creative (not to mention patient!). Today was Pajama day in honor of all things "P". This alone has had Skyler excited for weeks, then as the cherry on her ice cream it was also her (my) day to provide the class treats. My very brilliant child came up with Popcorn on her own, and her equally brilliant (by preschool standards anyway!) mom added Pretzels and Pink lemonade to the mix. The treats were a hit according to Sky and she proudly came out of school sporting a Princess crown. Although Kendyll wanted to wear pajamas along with her big sister, she settled for the sweats mom offered as a compromise. It is very surprising how opinionated Kendyll is on what she wears . . . already. She proudly shows off her outfit to Chummers everyday along with who put what article on her - side note mom does 99.9% of the dressing everyday! Anyway back on subject . . . Nothing like the letter P throwing up on the day!

She's Off!

Lately Skyler has picked up a cute little thing. When we ask her to go and do something she will say "Ohhkay!" and pick up her leg and shoot her arms out (think of some cartoon character) and then shoot off in the direction she is going. I don't know exactly where she came up with this idea but it is so funny! Let's just say that Jeremy and I have sent her off on a few unnecessary errands just to see her do this. I tried to get her in the "moment" however she began posing and the picture loses some of the effect of the move . . . for those of you who will get to see her in the next little bit, send her off to get something it will be worth it!

I'm back baby!!

Okay so I have been a little MIA the past few weeks, but all is well and I am back! I remember when I was in school at Utah State (Go Aggies!) if I could get 5 hours of sleep I was totally fine and I could function great on such a small amount of sleep. Well times have changed and I have gotten . . . OLD. Yuck. I had mistakenly convinced myself that I was successfully avoiding that word but the past couple of weeks have forced me to admit the aweful truth. I. am. old. It's official I need a good quality 7 or 9 hours of sleep to function like a normal person. How did I get here?

Although I am getting older some things remain the same - I am still the President of the Procrastinators Club. I know I procrastinate, however that knowledge does not help me to avoid the inevitable panic and frustration that comes with a deadline. When it comes to school work I will avoid, avoid, avoid - did I mention that I avoid? After several late nights (and countless cartoons for poor Sky) I did accomplish all of the course work for my class, just in time to attend another class. Another class where I dutifully take the procrastinator's vow - you know the one - I swear this class will be different, I will not wait until the last minute to get my work done! My intentions are good, the follow through, well that's a little iffy!

On a side note I have to publicly thank Jeremy for being such a super dad. He has been so great to hang out with the girls when I was loosing my mind. The girls simply adore him, I think they like that I am in school so they get to spend a lot of time with their daddy, or maybe it's that they get away with more with him . . . hhmmmm. Whatever it is, Thank you Jer!

Dreams DO Come True!!!

I have hoped for this to happen, even dreamed about what it would be like if it did happen, but I never actually thought I would experience this joyous event in my life. And yet it is happening, it is real . . . Cafe Rio IS coming to Twin Falls!!!!! This is not expressing the utter happiness I feel in making this announcement! I was driving in Twin yesterday, minding my own business on a lunch break from my Ethics class (yuck), when I looked up and saw the sign that has forever changed my life. I literally heard angels singing the the Hallelujah Chorus!!! For those of you who are questioning my sanity (because you have not yet tasted the heaven that is Cafe Rio), do not judge me or my comments until you have tried the pork barbacoa burrito (enchalada style of course), or the salad, or the . . . you get my drift! Jeremy and I were introduced to Cafe Rio by my cousin Ren, she will always hold a special place in our heart for this, and we have been loyal patrons ever since. It is absolutely impossible for us to go to Utah and not visit a Cafe Rio, we are aware of all of our options from Logan to St. George! Prepare yourselves now, those of you who live in this area, the new place to be in Twin is on Blue Lakes Blvd. by the Dairy Queen. If you need someone to introduce you to the magic that is Cafe Rio, I will humbly volunteer my services. Dreams do come true, it CAN happen to you! (I apologize for the Cindrella reference, but with two girls it is to be expected).

A Sister's Struggle

So I know that my two girls have different personalities, even though they get along so well and are the best of friends. This was made very clear to me yesterday at Skyler's dance class. So I am sitting along the side with all of the other moms and Kendyll is doing her best to participate with the class from the viewing area. The class started doing a balance game where bean bags are put on their heads, this I realize will not fly with my Sky. I have no idea why, but she does not like things put on top of her head. She is fine to wear hats, but other things like bean bags are not acceptable head attire . . . ever. So while they other girls played the game Skyler enjoyed from the sidelines, sigh. The other mother's couldn't help but notice that Skyler is most definitely my "shy" child, whereas, Kendyll is my "entertainer" if you will. As if on cue Kendyll became frustrated with her bench sitting sister. She stood at the edge of the "okay to play zone" (yes this is a zone of my own creation for Kendyll) and yelled at the top of her little lungs, "Dy Der!!!" and then her little finger and arm fly out pointing to where the other girls were participating in the activity. This was funny enough for all the moms, however Kendyll was not satisfied when Skyler did not respond to her demands. Next thing I know Kendyll is marching (marching as only a 22 month old can) over my imaginary line right at unsuspecting Skyler. Because I am laughing at the show my little darlings are putting on, I did not reach Kendyll before she had gotten across the dance floor. When Skyler sees Kendyll she thinks Kendyll has come to give her a hug and immediately embraces her long lost little sister. Kendyll however, has a different plan . . . She is mustering up all of her bossiness and trying to pull Skyler out to where the rest of the girls are. I grabbed Kendyll in the middle of her struggle and then wrestled with her until the class moved on to a different activity - one in which Skyler participated in much to her little sister's approval of course! Is this visions of their teenage years???

Lil' B's

For those of you who have ever riden in a car with me, you know that I love, love, love my music and the lost art of car dancing. I am not a bashful car dancer, in fact if someone catches me I will attempt to get them to join me. Skyler has joined me somewhat over the years, however Kendyll is a car dancer through and through! She has made me so proud in her early abilities, she is a very quick learner. I have very eclectic tastes in music (thank you mom for instilling that in me!) and therefore my kids appreciate everything from Queen and AC/DC to Jack Johnson and Keith Urban. Lately the girls have been very into Single Ladies by Beyonce . . . the part where Beyonce says "put your hands up!" is where cute little Kendyll puts her hand in the air and starts getting into her groove. She has just picked up the shakin' your behind move and she and Sky are so funny to watch! I tried to capture a few of the moves with the camera, the end result is not quite the same and when they are in the moment, but hopefully you can get the idea! Skyler is able to pick up a few more of the moves like pointing to your finger and moving her hips, but little Kendyll is good with just putting her hand up and twisting it back and forth as she attempts to sing the Oh, Oh, Oh, Ohhh, part. The Beyonce video is a bit mesmerizing and the song is most definitely catchy, so for anyone who has not heard it, might I suggest looking it up on You Tube on behalf of my lil' B's. . . Mommy loves you girls!

Zade, Zade, Zade

Let me start with this with we love our dog Zade. Jeremy and I got him before we had any children, and he has been in the house since day one, we love our dog. I say this more as a reminder to myself than anything, especially since he has completely lost his mind to his "male parts". My parents have two labs in the house, one of which being a eligable female, this is where my recent problem has (no pun intended) arisen. We live within seeing distance of my parents house and Zade can smell her womanly fragrance from our house and it is driving him literally crazy! We have had some annoying problems with this in the past, but something is different this time because he is to the point of casteration, I even seriously considered taking care of the situation myself one day with a rubberband. He has stopped eating, he is constantly whining like he is in pain, and there is howling ALL night long. Tuesday night we hit an all time low, he took to peeing in my house. I have bragged about how easily house broken Zade was as a puppy, he only has accidents in our house when he has been sick - that is really it. So to have him walk outside with me, I see him go to the bathroom on the bush, walk inside look at me and pee on the floor, I am at a loss of words! An hour later he did the same thing to Jeremy, then ran from him when he took him back outside. This alone is unheard of, Zade worships Jeremy and will do anything to get his approval (except apparently when a hot little chocolate lab is in heat!). Surprise guess where he ran to . . . yep my mom's house where he marked his territory twice and then attempted to do a number two, all on her deck! He has lost his ever lovin' mind! There was also another unfortunate incident involving poor Skyler's beloved tiger pillow, yes the love sac pictured here. The violation that occurred is beyond words, but before everyone completely freaks out I washed it right away and hopefully Skyler can eventually forgive Zade! I am writing this post mostly as a farewell to the manly parts that are driving him, and more importantly us, crazy. Farewell and good riddance I say!
